Introduction


BGC Saskatoon operates a 51 space centre located in the Avalon neighborhood of Saskatoon. We are currently hiring for one certified Early Childhood Educator (1/2 or 3). This position is full time for a 12 month contract and is eligible for the Health and Dental benefits plan with BGC Saskatoon. This contract has a possibility of extension and/or permanent offer at the end of the contract term. Tentative start date for this position is late February/early March. Our Early Learning Centre is staffed by a committed group of early childhood educators and is supported by an onsite management team and administration support. ECE's work a 40 hour week (8 hour day), Monday to Friday. Shift start and end times are between the hours of 7:15am and 6:00pm.

NOTE: All applicants must be eligible to work in Saskatchewan/Canada. Wage is negotiable based on experience and education and is eligible for the wage enhancement program from the Government of Saskatchewan.

Position Overview


The ELC Educator will provide respectful, inclusive and quality programs by committing to:
  • Treat children with respect, acceptance and honesty
  • Interact with participants in a patient, interested, understanding and caring manner
  • Promote feelings of competency and self-esteem
  • Make children and youth feel physically and emotionally safe & secure
  • Encourage responsible, safe and mutually-respectful behavior through positive methods such as role-modeling, setting reasonable limits, providing choices and recognizing appropriate behavior
  • Guide inappropriate conduct by using positive guidance and behavior management practices
  • Accommodate individual differences and make all children and youth feel equally welcome regardless of gender, race, culture, economic status or ability.
  • Engage children in planning activities that provide opportunities to develop and enhance skills, based on their needs and wants

The ELC Educator will:
  • Plan and implement daily routines and maintain a high level of supervision and safety according to Provincial Licensing Regulations and Procedures
  • Ensure the quality of the ELC by adhering to Provincial Licensing Regulations
  • Work in a team based environment
  • Apply and interpret Early Childhood Education developmentally appropriate practices
  • Complete forms as required
  • End of shift daily cleanup.
  • Maintain facility to highest safety standard; ensuring all toys/furniture/equipment are in good condition
  • Maintain attendance records and reports

Required Skills:
  • Applicants must have or be willing to obtain Phases I and II Play and Exploration training (paid training).
  • First Aid/CPR Certification
  • Early Childhood Education Certification (Level III)

Compensation

$18.81 - $25.50 per hour
